Heading to a foreign land ...

Where airports and train stations are named after famous composers:
Budapest - Franz Liszt airport
München Train Station - named after Franz Joseph Strauß

Enjoy this photo of the Darmstadt train station, where I will be in a few weeks. This sign was put up for the centennial of John Cage.

It is a reminder to all of us - "If you celebrate it, it's art. If you don't, it isn't."

Check-in

Greetings to everyone! I am happy to report that I am checked-in and have officially begun my journey of many planes, shuttles, and ... who knows ...

There is something so gratifying to me about deciding what to take, what to leave home, and into which vessel the things will go. This trip marks a few firsts for me: no laptop (iPad and iPhone only) and my replacement wheeling duffel was packed so well that it only weighs 25 lbs (on a 50-lb limit!). Usually, when I'm preparing for a big trip, I feel like I have to horse-trade in order to get the bag *just* under the appropriate weight.

The sunset was remarkable through the stained-glass window at the Rochester airport. That is the picture here.

A presto ...
