Yes, I have a job interview coming up ... and, as a delightful Eastman professor jokes, that "as we become more experienced and accomplished with our jobs, we need more books and scores. Then, all of the fees that we earn playing music go to paying our chiropractor, to un-do what our heavy bag does to us."
As I prepare for this interview, which will encompass a solo work and four opera excerpts, I will be studying like crazy *both* the orchestral and the piano-vocal scores. I'm getting better at playing from full-score, but for an audition, the piano-vocal scores pose the advantage of having more convenient page turns.
My backpack will be happy tomorrow when the two smaller "books" I've made are in it, as opposed to a separate tote of heavy (yet wonderful) scores.
