Recitals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I remember the piano recitals from early childhood, then the "milestone" degree recitals of each degree, and since I do a lot of collaborating, I've had my hand(s) in other people's degree recitals on a steady basis since I was at Oberlin.
Recitals have not stopped being a part of my family's life, either. My mom, grandmother, and several friends came to the trio concert last night, and today, I had the pleasure of watching my youngest sister, dance in a group dance recital.
Watching my sister (who has Downs' Syndrome) dance brought tears to my eyes. She was so good, and was right in step with her classmates. I was so proud of her and so happy for her and my family, because we could experience this together.
Hats off, Karly!
