One of the steady sources of entertainment here are the regular (and fairly constant) requests for random people to want to get their picture taken with either Ellen or I. This started on our first full day here, at the Forbidden City. (Ellen has also been sporting a white poofy hat, and, standing at 5'10" and resembling Annette Benning, she is definitely movie-star material).
I am not exactly sure the source of the fascination with me, but, I find it funny just the same. When I was in Shanghai, Bob and I were walking home from the art museum in the park, and several women came up behind me and started touching my earrings and my hair, asking if my hair was real, etc.
So, I got "mobbed" again by a group of six Chinese men or so when were visiting the Bai village on Tuesday, in Yunnan. They made their request known in Chinese, and then all of the sudden, they all wanted their picture taken with me.
